Why have a web site? | |
Well, why have a "Yellow Pages" ad? If you think of a web site as a cross between an answering service, an information desk, and a phonebook ad, you will quickly see why a web site can be useful. A phonebook ad comes out once a year, and cannot be changed to correct typos or changes that take place during the year. A web site can be changed as often as you like, reflecting your changing and growing business. A phonebook ad is expensive and generally small; a web site can be as large as you like, and is comparatively affordable. A phonebook ad probably doesn't have room for a listing of store hours; a web site can have an entire page that contains just that information, and the page can be updated to include notices of closures for vacations, inventories, or unexpected changes. A web site is full-color, animated, and interactive; it can "take messages", collect information, and give directions; it can display pictures of your store, your products, and your staff; and it can be updated, or completely redesigned, whenever you want. Find a phonebook ad that does that. Through your web site, you can communicate to your potential customers in a more immediate way, impressing them with your competence and eagerness to serve. You can send the message: "This is where we are; this is who we are. How can we help you?" And what better message is there to send to your customers? [ Terminology
